More About this Product
A BBC/Discovery Channel Co-Production. When it is summer in the polar regions, the sun never sets. In the Arctic, a family of polar bears struggles to find food on a rapidly thawing landscape, while a family of snowy owls feasts upon an abundance of lemmings on the Canadian tundra. Beluga whales take advantage of Canada's safe inland waterways to raise their young and shed their skin. A pair of white wolves attempts to isolate a musk ox calf, much to the dismay of the rest of the herd. In the Southern Hemisphere, two bull fur seals battle for the right to mate, and king penguins improvise to beat the summer heat. As summer fades and the winter ice begins to form, bull musk oxen fight for supremacy, while male polar bears fight for fun. A group of bull caribou races to impress a potential mate, and emperor penguins settle down to breed in the bitter cold.
