This program presents an overview of America\'s only indigenous musical art form, jazz. A trio of jazz musicians plays bass, drums and a saxophone to demonstrate the various styles of jazz. They demonstrate how jazz can be played in a way that expresses various types of emotions and explain the musical technique of call and response. Also discussed are the origins of jazz from its roots in African culture through its various stages of development and in this program, ending at Dixieland.
