More About this Product
Our freedom is “what’s right with America.” How would we, as individuals, react if the freedoms guaranteed in the Bill of Rights were taken away? This program opens with a chilling dramatization of that exact situation. After living in a remote jungle for a number of years without media access, a couple return to the United States with their teenage daughter and twelve-year-old son. At the airport they learn that the new president has made sweeping changes in the government. Slowly, the family comes to realize that the Bill of Rights is no longer in effect, such that women, girls, and minorities have lost all rights. Deciding they should leave, the family learns they will be allowed to do so only by paying an impossible price. From this dramatic opening, the program moves on to document how four real-life Americans have worked successfully to expand our rights to freedom of the press, to gain civil rights, to pursue education, and to simply live in a country free of totalitarian oppression.
