A BBC/Discovery Channel Co-Production. At the southernmost tip of the African continent, two great ocean currents meet – from the east, the warm Agulhas Current of the Indian Ocean, and from the west, the cold Atlantic Benguela Current. Together, these currents dictate life’s fortunes on land and in the seas, and create the extraordinary world of the Cape. In the unexplored rain forests of Mozambique, butterflies emerge after the rains to partake in a unique mating ritual atop Mount Mabu. On the coast, baby green turtles race to the ocean before they are snatched up by predators, while African penguins bake in the scorching heat. And in the seas, great white sharks scavenge the coastline, while dolphins, giant kingfish, Bryde’s whales, and gannets feast in the nutrient-rich waters.
